SGS Accredited for Textile and Footwear ZDHC Training
SGS has received accreditation as a qualified training provider for the ZDHC chemical management program in the textile and footwear sectors.
- (1888PressRelease) September 27, 2017 - SGS has been certified to provide Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) chemical management training for businesses operating in the textile and footwear supply chain by the ZDHC Foundation.
SGS is offering ZDHC training, a face-to-face two-day interactive course, in key textile sourcing countries. The course consists of five training modules, covering a range of topics, including:
• An introduction to chemical management
• Chemical hazards and risk assessment
• ZDHC MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List) and best practices for Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Chemical storage and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selection
• Environmental impact and mitigation
The course is aimed primarily at manufacturers seeking to develop an understanding of suitable practices related to the handling and management of chemicals at the procurement stage and within the factory.
SGS delivers all ZDHC courses in the local language and will adapt relevant course content to include references to local regulations, industry best practices and culture. Participants can be assured they will leave each training course with an in-depth understanding of the topics covered and see how they relate to their daily work. The course also utilizes audio-visual content to help develop and elaborate the technical points that are discussed.
SGS’z ZDHC courses are delivered by industry experts, often with backgrounds as textile engineers and factory chemical managers. They have many years of practical hands-on experience in the textile and footwear manufacturing sector, including in-depth knowledge of chemical and environmental management.
Commenting on the certification, Mr. Spencer Yeung, Vice President SGS Global Softlines, noted, “As a ZDHC contributor, we are very pleased to become one of the qualified training providers. This enables SGS to support ZDHC in their mission and commitment in advancing the industry’s capability in managing chemicals across the supply chain safely.”
Prospective participants can view the training calendar on the ZDHC Academy Platform and enroll for SGS-operated ZDHC certified training by contacting local SGS representatives.
