(1888PressRelease) February 27, 2015 - Crowborough, UK - Servomex, the world leader in gas analysis has taken a unique approach to developing packaging solutions for it 4000 series products, working alongside Macfarlane Packaging to deliver more slimline, environmentally friendly and secure packaging for the product range.

As new, more technically-advanced products are designed and manufactured by Servomex, the company needed to ensure all its packaging was fit for purpose and that its products would be delivered safely and intact to customers around the world. Macfarlane Packaging, the largest distributor of packaging products in the UK, was invited to review Servomex's existing packaging, starting with the 4000 series, with the remit of developing a new design.

Lorraine Watts, Export Compliance Officerat at Servomex said: "Previously we had too many packaging options which made it costly, often with lengthy delivery times and in some cases were not always guaranteed to deliver our products intact. We needed a central provider whose packaging would be lightweight, more environmentally friendly, cost-effective and of course, fit for purpose. To achieve this, we took the unusual step of inviting Macfarlane Packaging to conduct internal research alongside the staff involved. They followed the whole product development process from shop-floor to packaging and shipping, ensuring all angles were considered in tandem."

This 'holistic' approach to its packaging solution has led to several benefits for Servomex. Since the packaging is designed in line with product development, Macfarlane Packaging's solution is the most cost effective and environmentally friendly option available, with less waste and better materials. Basing the packaging on a single template has led to reduced delivery times, which means that instead of the long lead times Servomex was accustomed to, packaging is no longer an obstacle to prompt delivery as it is readily available. This has impacted positively on relationships with Servomex's partners and customers.
