- (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2011 - New York, NY - Dr. Heidi Horsley, Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and Co-Host of Open to Hope Radio and Dr. Gloria Horsley, Founder and President of the Open to Hope Foundation and Host of Open to Hope Radio are looking forward to presenting the webinar, September 11th: A Decade Later - Finding Hope and Healing After Traumatic Loss.
As we approach the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 we will mourn a nation, pay tribute to all those who were murdered, and celebrate our resilience as a country, stated Dr. Gloria Horsley. For nearly 10 years, Dr. Heidi Horsley has had the honor of working as a clinician and researcher for the Columbia University-FDNY Family Guidance Program, looking at traumatic loss over time in firefighter families. Despite the fact that the grief journey has been rocky and there have been set backs, Dr. Heidi has seen great strength and resilience among the firefighter families and there has been post-traumatic growth.
Join Dr. Gloria and Dr. Heidi, along with their guest, Elizabeth Creel, as they explore the issues unique to 9/11 and hear how the survivors that they worked with have found hope. Liz is also a member of the Columbia University-FDNY research team. Liz is a Licensed Social Worker and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University. In addition she is in private practice in New York City and is herself a native New Yorker.
As Dr's Heidi and Gloria point out, the 9/11 families are an example of the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to endure despite great adversity. Further this horrific tragedy is further proof that our country will prevail as a nation and keep going, and that our spirit will not be destroyed.
