Steve Thomas Leads Professional Association Of Engineering Firms.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2012 - Sepi Asefnia, president of SEPI Engineering & Construction (http://www.sepiengineering.com), a firm which provides civil engineering and planning services to private and public sector clients across the Southeast, has announced that Steve Thomas, PE, chief operating officer, was elected as president of the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina (ACEC/NC), a professional association of over 210 member firms in North Carolina, employing more than 8,000 professional engineers, technicians and scientists.
As president of ACEC/NC, Thomas oversees the board of directors and works with the executive director to promote the private sector engineering profession. He participates in the political process at both state and national levels to bring about positive change by communicating aspects of a healthy private sector engineering profession to elected officials and national leaders. Thomas has served in many roles with ACEC/NC over the past seven years, including Transportation Committee chair, board of directors member, vice president and president-elect.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas has 20 plus years of experience in the fields of bridge design, traffic operations analysis and engineering, environmental impact studies and assessments and air and noise analysis. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. Certified as a Highway Noise Analyst by the University of Louisville, Thomas resides in Apex, N.C. with his wife, Ann, and two sons, Alexander and Jack.
