Sentient Jet Continues To Enhance Industry-Leading, Innovative 9-Point Safety Program
Program Mainstays Remain Independent Safety Advisory Board, Rigorous Proprietary Certification Process and Chief Safety Officer.
- (1888PressRelease) September 10, 2010 - WEYMOUTH, Mass. - Sentient Jet, one of the leading private aviation companies in the U.S., announced today that its 'Sentient Certified' safety program for approving operators, aircraft, pilots and individual flights now has added data feeds to enhance the process. In addition to leveraging independent auditing resources, Sentient has further deepened its commitment to creating a unique and proprietary data platform through the creation of additional feeds obtained directly from governmental sources including the FAA.
"Sentient's commitment to safety, as evidenced by our long-term dedication to building an industry-leading program, is a cornerstone of our culture and reputation as an elite private jet company," said Marty Guinoo, Sentient's CEO. "As such, we continue to evolve the program including the addition of new real-time data feeds that allow for the latest and most accurate data in the best interests of our clients."
A crucial element of the program is the rigorous certification process for operators, aircraft and pilots to become 'Sentient Certified'. Sentient Certification includes four core components: Operator Certification, Aircraft Certification, Pilot Certification and Flight Certification, where each are separately evaluated and approved, ensuring that all of the company's stringent safety standards are met on every trip. This certification process is powered by Sentient's robust data platform, where information from multiple sources is compiled and ultimately leveraged during automated, real-time pre-flight safety checks for every individual flight. Sentient's data sources include:
-Direct data feeds from the FAA, NTSB, and National Vitals Statistics database via the Freedom of Information Act
-Wyvern, an independent source of data for air charter operators
-Sentient-specific data collected by our Field Operations team during the initial certification and ongoing review process
Sentient has been working to enhance and add data feeds throughout 2010 which has resulted in one of the most comprehensive views of the historical records and status for these operators, aircraft and crew available in the industry.
The certification process is managed by Sentient's Chief Safety Officer, Charles Starkowsky. Charles is responsible for the leadership of Sentient's safety programs, which continue to be guided by the company's Independent Safety Advisory Board. Established in 2005, the Sentient Safety Board remains unique in private aviation bringing together a coalition of highly-regarded aviation industry experts focused on enhancing Sentient's strong safety practices and standards. The five member Board is chaired by Dave Thomas, former Director of the Office of Accident Investigation for the Federal Aviation Administration.
"Sentient sets a strong standard for safety in private aviation by taking an innovative approach that extends well beyond the strict FAA requirements for Part 135 operations. With the rigorous and thorough Sentient Certified program in place, Sentient is able to verify that every one of these standards are being met for each flight," said Thomas, Sentient Safety Board Chairman.
