Sennheiser Circle Series and DW Pro2 Headsets Win Top "Six Dragons" Rating from Voice Recognition Leader Nuance
Sennheiser announced that its DW Pro2 wireless headset received the top ranking for quality from Nuance, a leader in voice and language technologies.
- (1888PressRelease) October 10, 2012 - Old Lyme, Conn. - Audio specialist Sennheiser announced that its DW Pro2 wireless headset received the top ranking for quality from Nuance, a leader in voice and language technologies. The DW Pro2 was the only and first product in Nuance's recent wireless headset comparison to receive a score of "Six Dragons" - the highest possible ranking from the company's rigorous testing - for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Dragon Dictate for Mac.
Nuance routinely assigns quality rankings to audio equipment such as headphones and microphones on a scale of one to six dragons, six being the highest. According to the company, microphones and headsets are subject to a stringent evaluation of performance, accuracy, ease-of-use, durability, Windows compatibility and other criteria. To date, Nuance has certified more than 20 wireless headsets from nine other manufacturers .
In addition to the DW Pro2 headset's Six Dragons rating, Sennheiser's Circle Series SC230 and SC260 models received a top score of Six Dragons in the wired category.
"Sennheiser is completely dedicated to achieving great quality audio," said Bill Rice, national sales manager, telecommunications, of Sennheiser. "The reason why Sennheiser is able to score so highly in these evaluations is because for more than 65 years, our core expertise has been sound. In the world of voice recognition, this is the ultimate attribute."
The DW Pro2 professional wireless headset is an ergonomically designed, high-performance DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) headset that delivers HD voice quality and noise-cancelling capabilities in a comfortable, sleek design. The DW Series consists of the DW Pro1 and the DW Pro2, with the Pro2 being the stereophonic version. Professional wireless headsets allow workers greater comfort and mobility in an office setting, resulting in increased productivity and more precise communications.
Sennheiser's DW Pro headsets were previously awarded a 2012 Speech Technology Excellence Award from TMCnet's Customer Interaction Solutions magazine, which recognizes companies that have made significant contributions improving speech applications for their clientele. These models have also been certified for interoperability with telephony solutions from Microsoft, Avaya, Cisco, IBM and Polycom.
As business environments rely increasingly on digital audio content, speech recognition continues to gain momentum as a valuable tool. This technology is especially pertinent in markets such as healthcare, where physicians can transcribe patient records and verbal comments into their (now mandatory) electronic health records; or in education, where students and professors can electronically digitize the text of their lectures. Nuance holds significant market share in the healthcare vertical, as more hospitals and private practices transition their paper records to secure, electronic data files, in adherence with government HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
"We developed our Dragon ranking system to help ensure our customers are aware of the highest quality audio products for our Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Dragon Dictate for Mac products. We congratulate Sennheiser and its DW Pro2 for achieving Six Dragons," said Peter Mahoney, Chief Marketing Officer for Nuance, and General Manager for Dragon.
