- (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2016 - SEF-2016 KYIV, 8th International Forum of Sustainable Energy in Ukraine was held in Kyiv on October 11-12 and confirmed its status as the main business event about new energy technologies and solutions. More than 350 delegates from 29 countries and top managers of the Ukrainian Ministries, state agencies and departments discussed investment possibilities in energy efficiency and renewable energy field. A lot of important meetings, negotiations, contracts signings were made during SEF-2016 KYIV.
The investment project "Chornobyl Solar" was presented at SEF-2016 KYIV by Minister of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak for the first time. The government plans to breathe life into the lost after Chornobyl disaster area by this project.
"The Chornobyl zone is the problem area, but we can revive this area by high-technology projects implementation, in particular in the renewable energy field", - told Ostap Semerak during his presentation at SEF-2016 KYIV.
According to this project, more than 1,2 GW of solar energy plants will be installed in Chornobyl area. This project was in the centre of attention of SEF-2016 KYIV participants among which 80% of delegates and 85% of exponents where foreign companies.
Reaching of agreements and signing of contracts are an important part of SEF-2016 KYIV. In particular, most projects implemented in the Ukrainian sustainable energy industry have been established and developed in connection with their presentation at SEF KYIV Forums from 2009.
The event did not become an exception this year too. During SEF-2016 KYIV, the governor of Khersons'ka oblast Andriy Gordeev and RECOM CEO Hamlet Tunan, one of the biggest European PV panels producers, have signed a memorandum about partnership and building solar power plants of up to 500 MW.
RECOM was selected as one of the country's major partners on this venture. As a total solar solutions provider, such projects represent a great opportunity to underline our company's unwavering commitment to the global solar movement.
The region has the necessary renewable potential that can provide up to 50% of the total consumption of energy resources and RECOM is planning to invest in PV projects of the region.
The exact locations of the projects will be communicated by RECOM in the following months.
"Ukraine is taking an important step towards expanding their alternative energy capacity and we are delighted to be working on another major European project. " said RECOM CEO Hamlet Tunyan.
During the presentation at SEF-2016 KYIV, the Chairman of the State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Sergiy Savchuk emphasized the importance of "green tariff" for sustainable development of Ukraine. "As you know, last year the law about providing competitive conditions for electricity production from renewable energy sources was implemented by the Ukrainian Parliament. According this law, the "green tariff" was tied to Euro currency till 2030", - told Mr. Savchuk, adding that present work of the State Agency is connected with creation of the new legislation in the energy efficiency field today.

The sustainable energy experts are sure that besides of implementation of energy efficiency in all fields, Ukraine has to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy balance.
In particular, Energy Watch Group President, German feed-in-tariffs system co-author of and Bundestag ex-parliamentarian Hans-Josef Fell emphasized that Ukraine is moving into the right way, creating good conditions and feed-in-tariff for renewable energy. But, according to Hans-Josef Fell, Ukraine has to accelerate the pace of transition to the sustainable energy.

Today the Ukrainian government is looking for drivers for the economy. Ukraine can increase export of its products through decrease the energy consumption by its industry. Implementation of energy efficiency projects by enterprises and development of renewable energy plants are able to create new infrastructure models. As a result, Ukraine gets increasing of competitiveness of its products and creation of new work places.
