    • California (CEB), the book guides attorneys through the construction dispute remedies of mechanics liens, stop payment notices and payment bonds for private and public projects; explains the changes brought about by newly enacted California statutes; clarifies the effective dates for the new laws with examples of how to apply them; and puts construction attorneys in a position to more effectively litigate on behalf of their clients as well as accurately advise on prelitigation notice requirements.

The fourth edition of the book has been updated to include the new changes to the law that will take effect on July 1, 2012. Klinger and Dunn's chapter on bond claim procedures and surety defenses discusses all of the bonds involved on construction projects of every ilk, from subdivision development to bridge construction, including public infrastructure bonds, bid bonds, payment bonds, performance bonds and release bonds, to name a few.

Klinger heads the firm's Construction Practices Group from the Los Angeles office and is involved in all aspects of construction law on a state and national level representing owners, contractors, subcontractors and sureties. Her practice also focuses on time-related claims and litigation. Additionally, she counsels clients on the contracting process, payment enforcement/defense, administrative and scope claims and transactional services. Klinger earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1978) and her B.S., cum laude, from Santa Clara University. In 2010, she was given the James Acret Award for outstanding achievement in construction law writing.

Dunn is the Construction Practices Group lead partner in Sedgwick's Orange County office, and concentrates his practice on construction and complex commercial matters, including real estate, collections, debtor-creditors' rights and bankruptcy. With more than 18 years of experience in addressing complex legal and factual matters, Dunn focuses on construction disputes and defaults on federal, state and private construction projects in the U.S. He received his J.D. from the Seattle University School of Law (1992) and his B.A. from University of California at Los Angeles (1989). Since 2009, he has been honored as one of O.C.'s Top Lawyers in OCMetro magazine for four consecutive years.
