Second Book Written By Earnest Harris Released
Harris Co-Authored Book on Parenting of African-American Children.
- (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2011 - In what has been a banner year for author Earnest Harris, a second book he co-authored and edited has been released. This latest book, called The Soulful Parent: Raising Healthy, Happy and Successful African-American Children comes just months after his first book, Never Settle Again: Living A Life With No Regrets, was released.
The Soulful Parent: Raising Healthy, Happy and Successful African-American Children was co-authored by Harris with prominent and nationally recognized parenting psychologist Dr. Kerby Alvy, PhD. and two other authors, Hassahn Liggins and Lisa Nicole Bell.
The book brings to readers the excitement and goodness of what the Center for the Improvement of Child Caring, a Los Angeles-baed non-profit, and its Effective Black Parenting program, has done for numerous parents nationwide, through stories about how they have used the teachings of the program to create happier homes and happier and healthier relationships with their children. It takes into account how history and cultural influences often shape how parents raise their children.
"I was so proud to be involved with this book," said Harris. "I absolutely love being a parent myself, so to work on something like this, to get the opportunity to interview and talk to so many parents and counselors from across the country, was really a bonus to me. Not only did I get to write their stories, but I also learned so much myself. And it was an honor to work with such an esteemed psychologist like Dr. Alvy who pioneered this program and others like it. It is one of the things I will always be most proud of."
The book is available through the Center for Improvement of Child Caring and online at www.africanamericanparenting.org/TheSoulfulParent. For more information on Earnest Harris, go to www.earnestharris.com.
