Second Annual Making the Cut Live Hair Show Names OC's Top Stylist 2014

  • Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) April 02, 2014 - On Monday, March 31, six of the best stylists in Orange County competed in the second annual Making the Cut live hair show competition to take home the honor of OC's Top Stylist 2014. A high profile line-up of judges and sponsors, as well as hundreds of guests, walked the red carpet at the Observatory in Santa Ana and watched as six finalists participated in a live hair cutting and styling competition followed by a hair and fashion show. The top six contestants included: Margit Aaron of Margit Aaron Studio, Jason Atkins of Salon 359, Krystle Blair of The COLLECTIVE…a Hair Salon, Traci Garrett of Sweet 1017 Hairdressing, Dennis Lee of Armando Joshua Cristopher Salon, and Amaris Yanez of Jeffrey Michaels Salon.

    This year's event, presented by Scott Fontana in association with Cristophe Salon Newport Beach, was hosted by Jeremy Jackson, Hollywood actor and former Baywatch star, and included an opening hair cutting show by Scott Fontana. Small bites and appetizers were served courtesy of Rubio's, in addition to a full bar. The judging panel was comprised of beauty industry elite including: Scott Fontana, Laurent D. of Privé Salon and products, Leyla Milani Khoshbin of Milani Hair™, and Raha Lewis of People Magazine. Last year's winner, Morgan Higgins of Salon Bleu in San Clemente, and Anne Moratto of Modern Salon, announced Krystle Blair as this year's winner.

    Stylists were given 30 minutes to create a cut and style on stage, followed by a hair and fashion show comprised of four models each. Judges evaluated technique, creative, technicality, and overall performance. As the winner of the Making the Cut, Krystle Blair was awarded with $2,500 cash and other sponsor prizes. The first runner-up, Jason Atkins, received $1,000 cash and the second runner-up, Dennis Lee, received $500 cash.     Scott Fontana's artistic team presented a makeover for a client of Working Wardrobes® (www.workingwardrobes.org), a nonprofit dedicated to creating an empowered workforce and changing the lives of men, women, young adults and veterans overcoming difficult challenges through job skills training, job placement assistance, wardrobe services and financial readiness training.
