SDR Europe: US Army, Netherlands MoD and NATO to Discuss Interoperability and Smart Spectrum Management
SDR Europe, a 9th annual Software Defined Radio Europe conference, 26th-28th October, at the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel, the Netherlands.
- (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2011 - Speakers from organisations including the US Army, Netherlands MoD and NATO will be addressing how to advance military communications through interoperability and improved spectrum management at the 9th annual Software Defined Radio Europe conference, 26th-28th October, at the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel, the Netherlands.
Experts such as SES Mr Henry Muller, Director Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate, US Army CERDEC and Major General Sander Schnitger, Director DOBBP, C4I & NEC, Netherlands MoD will identify concrete solutions for near term procurement, and discuss technology platforms and systems that can increase network centricity. The event also incorporates a session led by Dr. Michael Street, Senior Scientist- Tactical Communications, NATO NC3A who will specifically focus on the role of tactical radio in a net centric environment and the organisation's requirements for future waveforms.
NATO is one of the key representatives this year, as the long-running SDR Europe conference has extended its scope to demonstrate business opportunities in the new member states like Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic. These emerging markets offer insights into operational experience of programmes such as FICIS (Field Integrated Communications and Information System) and new software enabled technology initiatives.

•Mr. Frederic Bouyer, CONTACT Programme Manager, DGA, French Ministry of Defence, speaking on the future for TDL waveforms on SDR platforms
•Lieutenant Colonel Carlo Zammariello, Principal Officer SDR, European Defence Agency, discussing SDR standardisation approaches for the commercial, public safety and military domain
•Lieutenant Colonel Jose Everardo Ferreira, Electronic Engineer, MIMO Programme, Brazilian Air Force addressing transmission techniques in wireless communication
•Mr. Michael Siber, SDR R&D Lead, European Defence Agency focusing on information exchanges between European SDR initiatives
