ScreenConnect is a self-hosted remote support solution allowing hosts to access and control computers or servers remotely. This latest release of provides new features and enhancements to help users interface with unattended machines, such as servers or kiosks.

    The new remote access feature allows customers to create an installer that, once deployed on computers or servers, allows the host to reconnect even if there is no one present to provide permission. The new unattended installer runs as a service on the target computer, calling back to the ScreenConnect installation and allowing hosts to quickly locate and reconnect to those machines.

    Other features, like the ability to black out the client screen, can prevent clients from accessing the system and from seeing sensitive information such as passwords or license keys. "This functionality was highly sought after by customers who frequently work on publicly accessible computers, such as kiosks in the malls or airports and workstations in conference rooms or lobbies. Coupling this functionality with our unattended installer provides a new non-permission connection-based option that ScreenConnect customers didn't have before," states product manager Sean White.

    "Adding remote access to our repertoire has been on our radar for a while. Introducing it in this release was important to help round out our remote support portfolio as we enter 2011," says Jeff Bishop, Business Development Manager.
