Scottsdale Golf Club, Country Club at DC Ranch Members Take Ownership Reigns, Bring New Approach In Down Economy Club Transition from Developer Allows Membership to Implement New Competitive Programs & Fees for the country club Scottsdale.
- (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2011 - Scottsdale, Ariz. - Finding success in a process that is traditionally very challenging for private country club Scottsdale, DMB Associates has turned over ownership of Scottsdale Golf Club, The Country Club at DC Ranch, to the club's membership who are already making significant changes to keep the country club Scottsdale healthy and viable in the down economy.
Following a smooth transition over 18 months headed by the club's turnover committee, The Country Club, as Scottsdale Golf Club, the 500-plus membership is shaping the club's future with an active and vested interest in maintaining a successful club, despite current struggles in the Scottsdale golf club industry. Across the country, clubs have felt the impact of the recession as high net-worth individuals and families have reprioritized their budgets for luxury goods. At the heart of the luxury sector, many of the nation's top country clubs have been faced with membership attrition as the national average of private country club memberships is down five percent over the last three years, with the biggest decline in the West, according to the 2008 Clubs in Town and Country report.
While interest in memberships at The Country Club at DC Ranch, a Scottsdale Golf Club, has remained strong, the country club Scottsdale has taken an aggressive approach to ensuring that interest converts to new members with an almost 50% reduced membership fee that is now available in limited quantities, for equity golf, sports social and clubhouse memberships at the Scottsdale Golf Club. Membership fees now start at $5,000 for a clubhouse membership. In addition, a campaign has been launched to promote a new single 'social' membership program which is not available at any other club in the area. The club also recently established an Ambassador's Club, for the country club Scottsdale, designed to pair existing members with potential Scottsdale golf club members to make introductions across the club and secure new memberships. Memberships are available to residents and non-residents of the DC Ranch community.
The Country Club Scottsdale, under direction of the club's board of directors, which includes several prominent Valley business leaders, these proactive initiatives have already resulted in over 16 new memberships in just one week.
"Being aggressive in recruiting new members and offering competitive programs and fees is crucial in today's market," said Melanie Halpert, Director of Membership Sales for The Country Club at DC Ranch. "While the interest in membership at our club has remained strong, we've decided to take a proactive approach to ensure our membership levels remain healthy so our club can continue to be North Scottsdale's top lifestyle destination."
Located at the foothills of the McDowell Mountains on land that once housed a cattle ranch in the early 1900s, at the center of The Country Club at DC Ranch is an expansive hacienda-style clubhouse that hosts an unprecedented calendar of social events and offers an exclusive, yet inviting setting, to gather with family, friends and colleagues. Designed to embody the history, charm and spirit of The Old West, the clubhouse is home to an array of signature club events from happy hour, burger night and exclusive holiday events and wine dinners.
Outside the clubhouse lies a traditional championship golf course designed by the famed Tom Lehman and John Fought, draped in sweeping views of the desert. Complete with six tennis courts, a fitness facility, recreational pool and poolside grill, The Country Club at DC Ranch offers the ultimate lifestyle for active couples and families.
