Scott Wimmer Finishes 15th At Iowa Speedway
Wimmer drove the No. 70 Foretravel Chevrolet to a 15th place finish in the John Deere Dealers 250.
- (1888PressRelease) May 26, 2011 - Scott Wimmer drove the No. 70 Foretravel Chevrolet to a 15th place finish in the John Deere Dealers 250 at Iowa Speedway during his first race with ML Motorsports.
Wimmer started the race 24th after rain washed out qualifying, forcing the field to be set by the NASCAR rule book. Lined up in order of Owner Points, the Wisconsin native took the green flag from the 24th position. Wimmer moved up to 20th in only four laps and continued his climb up through the field until early contact with the No. 93 car forced the team to bring the No. 70 in for minor repair work to the hood and right side.
Ranked 5th in Green Flag Passes on the day, Wimmer moved up to as high as 12th position before a late caution relegated the No. 70 to a 15th place finish. "The team worked really hard this weekend, and they gave me a car that was comfortable to drive to the front" Wimmer continues; "It's unfortunate we had that car come down on us early on, and the tire going down late to take away a potential Top-10 or better. We have the first one under our belts and we'll be ready come Chicago."
Owner Mary Louise Miller said "I'm pleased with a 15th place finish, but feel that we could have brought home a top ten finish if we'd had more practice time. Scott performed well in our No. 70 Chevrolet and we're looking forward to another strong run at Chicagoland Speedway".
Wimmer currently sits 18th in Driver Points with the Mary Louise Miller owned ML Motorsports 24th in Owner Points.
Wimmer will drive the No. 70 at Chicagoland Speedway on June 4th with Foretravel Motorcoach and Biomet sponsoring the car.
