Scope supports IEEE in enhancing author data for future author database
Scope eKnowledge Center (Scope), a leading content enhancement and knowledge services provider, is pleased to announce that it will support a significant new initiative of the IEEE, the world's largest technical professional association, to build a unique author name database.
- (1888PressRelease) November 03, 2010 - Chennai, India - IEEE plans to create a database of author data extracted from more than 2.5 million journal articles and conference proceedings contained in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. In order to develop this unique author name database, IEEE is partnering with Scope to subject the existing metadata to a stringent cleanup process, which in-turn will ensure quality disambiguation and the highest level of excellence in the final database product. In order to do so, Scope will take a technology-assisted approach, engaging skilled professionals experienced in the nuances of researcher names and affiliation data while also employing software tools for data validation and enrichment.
Mr. R. Sivadas, Scope CEO, comments, "Author data record enhancement is an area of competency in which Scope has a considerable amount of experience, as well as the processes and resources in place to guarantee high quality levels, rapid scalability and economy. We at Scope are extremely pleased to be working with the IEEE to put our experience to work for them."
"Scope was selected for both their previous experience building author databases as well as their overall consultative approach to our project," said Gerry Grenier, Staff Director, Publishing Technologies, IEEE. "We are confident that Scope's expertise will enable us to produce and maintain a robust IEEE author database at the high level of quality that IEEE members have come to expect from all IEEE products."
