Schneider Electric's Historian Software Selected by Tennessee Valley Authority
Nation's largest public power provider to use real-time historian software for situational awareness and the management of electric power generation and transmission system data.
- (1888PressRelease) December 08, 2015 - LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Schneider Electric Software, a global leader in industrial software and part of Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, announced today that the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has entered into an enterprise agreement to implement its real-time historian software. TVA will deploy the solution across its entire fleet of generation and transmission assets, including combined-cycle, combustion turbine, coal, nuclear and hydropower plants.
TVA, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states and has a generating capacity of more than 37,000 MW. The recent agreement marks an expansion of Schneider Electric's existing relationship with TVA, as the utility installed their predictive asset analytics software for early warning detection and diagnosis of equipment problems for its power generation units in 2011.
"The continued expansion of the Industrial Internet of Things is enabling exponential growth in the deployment of smart devices and sensors for plant and power grid applications, further driving the need for significant focus on the real-time data management infrastructure," said Rob McGreevy, Vice President of Information, Operations and Asset Management at Schneider Electric. "We are proud that our technology continues to be the historian technology of choice for industry-leading organizations like TVA."
The Schneider Electric historian provides TVA with a reliable and scalable data management infrastructure for collecting, archiving, displaying, analyzing and reporting on operational and asset health related data. Advanced user applications provide secure visibility of this information to make the data accessible throughout the organization for informed and timely decisions. Customers have reported that the use of Schneider Electric's historian has led to operational staff productivity increases of up to 75 percent.
