An update to Schneider Electric's StruxureWare Central v7.0 data centre management software includes the introduction of a virtual machine version of the application.
- (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2011 - London, (United Kingdom)- Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has introduced StruxureWare™ Central v7.0, which includes updates to StruxureWare Central as well as the introduction of a virtual machine version of the application.
The StruxureWare™ Central v7.0 platform brings further support to an open, vendor-neutral application that addresses data center management needs holistically by enabling data centre professionals to manage their physical infrastructure while systematically maximizing uptime.
Highlights of the StruxureWare Central v7.0 platform include:
• Virtual Machine Version - This new platform extends the options for deployment to the virtual environment. The software is available as a free download that includes support for five infrastructure devices and one surveillance camera. A license key is required to add additional devices and cameras;
• Failover and Redundancy - The virtual machine version allows StruxureWare Central to take advantage of the high availability and fault tolerant options offered by the major VM vendors;
• Virtual Sensors - Ability to sum and average like sensors for the purpose of graphing, trending and alarming, including determining the average temperature in a row or room, the total power in a rack, etc.;
• Web Client: StruxureWare Central delivers basic alarm information and device inventory via a browser interface. This new client interface allows instant access to device status, device details, and alarms, optimized for viewing on a variety of devices including smartphones, tablets, and laptop PCs.
"As our customers initiated their server consolidation and virtualization initiatives, it became apparent we needed to adapt our solution to further meet our customer's needs. The StruxureWare Central v7.0 virtual machine platform is yet another deployment option that gives our customers the ability to run StruxureWare Central on their preferred hardware while also taking advantage of the latest innovations from the major VM vendors," said CJ Meiser, Schneider Electric's Vice President of Management Solutions.
"StruxureWare Central v7.0 adds on features such as virtual sensors, outlet controls, a web client, virtual machine high availability and fault tolerance to ensure uptime in an ever increasingly dynamic environment."
StruxureWare Central provides an efficient way for organizations to monitor their company-wide physical infrastructure: power, cooling, security, and environment. Real-time monitoring, user-defined reports and graphs, and instant fault notification and escalation enable quick assessment and resolution of critical infrastructure events that can adversely affect IT system availability.
This centralized repository of critical information can be accessed by multiple users from anywhere on the network, creating a consolidated view of the physical infrastructure. StruxureWare Central v7.0 seamlessly operates alongside and integrates with management systems and data center equipment from various vendors.
Schneider Electric will be demonstrating it's StruxureWare for Data Centers software suite on stand 29 at DatacenterDynamics Converged, London International Conference Centre (ICC), ExCel, November 30th - December 1st.
