Scalada Holdings' EIS Technology to Cut Fracking Costs
Produced water, treated using Scalada Holdings' Elemental Ionization System, could lower costs of hydraulic fracturing.
- (1888PressRelease) January 08, 2014 - Scalada Holdings, Ltd., the Singapore-based water treatment and sustainable solutions group, along with its wholly owned Nevada-based subsidiary, Titan Holdings, Inc., have announced that it plans to begin a trial to determine whether wastewater, from oil and gas projects, can be rendered adequate for reuse in hydraulic fracturing after being treated using Scalada's Elemental Ionization System (EIS).
Manly Logan, Chief Executive Officer of Scalada Holdings stated, "With this trial we hope to establish that produced water treated with our technology can be deemed fit for industrial, agricultural and municipal use as well as reuse by fracking operations."
In the oil and gas industry, the general consensus regarding the issue of water shortage is that supporting operations entirely with freshwater is untenable at the current rate of progression. Moreover, the problems of locating, transporting and disposing of this water is a significant drain on profit margins. Fresh water shortages present a potentially intractable obstacle to the untapped potential of many oil and gas operations.
Scalada Holdings hope to supply their onsite modular water treatment technology and equipment package to oil and gas operators and owners to reduce costs, lessen the need for fresh water for drilling and minimize the ongoing contamination of freshwater resources.
Scalada's proprietary EIS technology could effectively provide a new water supply that would ease the burden on conventional water supplies and offer a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to re-injection with immediate savings to operators.
"We at Scalada Holdings look forward to the results of this trial and are confident that the efficacy of our EIS technology will be proven once again. As always, we are wholly focused on our goal of improving completions and project economics through optimum wastewater management," concluded Mr. Logan.
