Save Yorktown Hospital Outdoor Movie Fundraiser Event
Angry Otter Productions is sponsoring a movie night in Yorktown, Texas as a fundraiser for the Save The Yorktown Hospital group and for it's upcoming movie Yorktown.
- San Antonio, TX (1888PressRelease) November 27, 2010 - Angry Otter Productions, LLC is an independent film company. Our current project, "Yorktown," is our first feature length film currently in pre-production. The movies main location is the Yorktown Memorial Hospital in Yorktown, Texas, built in 1950 and abandoned in 1986. After this location was chosen for filming, the City of Yorktown placed an emergency injunction on the building because of "concern of its physical condition." The towns people are upset that the building is now closed to the public and they are not allowed to tour the facility any longer. Most of that area has family ties to the Hospital, either their own births, a sibling's injury, or a loved one's death.
The town supports the idea of a movie being filmed in their city and want the Hospital open so we can film. This inspired us to hold a fundraiser to assist our production and to help the owner of the Hospital financially so he can make some of the repairs needed to satisfy the city and reopen the Hospital for the enjoyment of the town.
Our event on December 11th is an outdoor movie on the grounds of the Hospital for the community to come and enjoy. We have hired a professional company to come erect a screen, provide projection, and sound. We will be showing a classic horror film. Many local businesses and organizations which support the Hospital and the movie are donating time, services, and/or product for this event. We have basic concessions being offered such as popcorn, baked goods, and warm drinks for the cold evening. Hartman Distributing of Victoria is providing the event with Miller Beer products to ensure we have a successful event.
We will be asking for $5 donations at the gate. $20 can get guests over 21 in the event and an armband for beer and drinks all evening, until we run out. Everything else is just a $1 like, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, popcorn, hot chocolate, sodas, and water. There will be a raffle of a 3-D cake of the Hospital! Raffle tickets $5. The first 100 people will get a YORKTOWN MOVIE POSTER and the trailer for the movie will be debuted to the public this night.
We anticipate attendance of 250-350 people for this event. The Yorktown movie's fan page on facebook has gained over 1,100 fans since September 1st and continues to grow 8-12 fans a day. The movie's website has steady traffic of 30-50 hits per day. We are extremly proud of the support this movie has already gained as we move into the third month of pre-production. This will be the first promotional event for our film "Yorktown."
"Yorktown" is a 70's style slasher/horror film that takes place in the city of Yorktown. It's about a group of friends that upon hearing of Yorktown Memorial Hospital decide to take a road trip to the haunted location and "investigate". What they don't realize is that someone has taken up residence in the building and begin to kill them off one-by-one while they are exploring. Filming is expected to take place Feb. 4 through 18. The movie is slated to premiere at the Santikos Paladium Theater in San Antonio on May 11, 2011, be in several film festivials, and distributed by fall of 2011 on DVD.
