Save A Sample! welcomes Perkins and Will's Kim Farrah & Chris Youssef to present the Tranparency Site
Kim and Chris will present a talk entitled "The Transparency Site: Creating a dialogue about harmful building materials in the design industry."
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2011 - Save A Sample! is pleased to announce Kim Farrah and Chris Youssef of the Perkins+Will Transparency Project as this year's Save A Sample! Scholarship Awards Celebration guest speakers. Kim and Chris will present a talk entitled "The Transparency Site: Creating a dialogue about harmful building materials in the design industry."
The Transparency Site, which is an outgrowth of Perkins and Will's Precautionary List, is the building industry's first database to detail substances that are known or suspected to be harmful to human health and the environment.
"By focusing on components commonly found in building materials, the original Precautionary List filters a mass of information regarding substances to arm architects and designers with the knowledge necessary to ensure they do no harm. The new Transparency Site is intended to educate architects and designers about asthma and flame-retardants by taking elements that are otherwise ignored and bringing them to the forefront of everyone's attention for discussion with each other and manufacturers. Again, we are looking toward a long-term goal of market transformation, but this time we are asking designers and manufacturers to engage in a dialogue," says Chris Youssef.
Kim and Chris will discuss the role of the Perkins+Will Transparency Site (http://transparency.perkinswill.com/) in changing how the design industry selects products for their projects.
