Sand Dollar Charitable Foundation Hosts Fifth Annual Hike for Charity
The Hike for Charity is a tradition for loyal hikers and their families who want to support the four local charities-CASA, YMCA, HOSPICE FOUNDATION, and the KINSHIP CENTER.
- Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2011 - The Sand Dollar Charitable Foundation is hosting the fifth annual Hike for Charity on Saturday, June 11th at Toro Regional Park (Highway 68, Salinas), at the Quail Meadow group site.
There are three routes - advanced hiker, intermediate hiker, and beginner hiker, so the event is for all ages and abilities. The advanced hike is about 5-6 miles (2-3 hours on the trail), the intermediate hike is 2-3 miles (1- 2 hours on the trail), and the beginner hike is about 1mile (30-45 minutes on the trail). All ages and families are welcome. The advanced hike begins at 9:00 a.m. and the intermediate hike starts at 10:00 a.m., the beginner hike begins at 11:00 am. Hike registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Quail Meadow group site. Please arrive 30-45 minutes before your selected hike.

More than 200 plus participants take part in the event. Proceeds from the Hike for Charity benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates, YMCA of Monterey Peninsula, Hospice Foundation, and the Kinship Center adoption and foster care programs.
The pre-registration cost is $30 for adults, $15 for children under 17 until June 1st. After June 1st, it will be $ 40 for adults and $ 25 for children under 17 at the event only. Participants receive a Hike for Charity t-shirt and a gift bag. A free raffle will precede the event at 11:30 am, along with healthy snacks and water.
