New Delhi, 25 July 2012 | Samtel Display Systems Ltd. - one of India's premier organisations in the domain of avionics and defence has announced its change of name to 'SAMTEL AVIONICS & DEFENCE SYSTEMS LTD.' effective immediately. The new name aligns with the company's evolving business focus as it grows into new domains of opto-electronics and built-to-print, besides displays for cockpits and military applications.
"The new name embodies our commitment to emerge as India's first complete avionics firm in private domain," commented Mr. Puneet Kaura - Executive Director. "The move to change the name was necessitated by our stride into newer domains of Modern Avionics, Built-to-Print for Avionics LRUs, and Opto-electronics from our earlier focus area of manufacturing displays for avionics and military applications."
Samtel Avionics & Defence Systems (SA) - along with its joint ventures with HAL and Thales is now on an accelerated growth path to newer domains in modern avionics systems and applications for military and commercial platforms. The Samtel-HAL JV already enjoys the unique distinction of being the first public-private partnership in defence avionics space in India to indigenously design, qualify and serial produce multifunction displays which are currently flying on Su-30 MKI. On the other hand, the Samtel-Thales JV is aimed at manufacturing indigenous Helmet-Mounted Sight and Display Systems, Infra Red Search and Track (IRST), and modern Avionics Systems for the Indian and export defence markets.
"Over the next few years, SA expects to be a front-runner in the avionics and defence domain", adds Kaura. "As the Indian aerospace and defence industry embarks on an intensive modernization campaign, the offsets business will also drive growth for SA.
