S3G Technology LLC and OYO Sign Worldwide Patent License Agreement
S3G, a MIT startup in the US promoted by Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee a Young Global Leader recognized by World Economic Forum for his potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world. S3G's strong patents in ICT area which have been successfully litigated in the US, are now being used by OYO Hotels (internationally) under license arrangement.
- (1888PressRelease) August 27, 2022 - S3G Technology LLC (S3G) announced that it has signed a worldwide patent license agreement with OYO Hotels, Inc. (OYO USA), Oravel Stays Limited (OYO India), Oravel Stays Singapore Private Limited (OYO Singapore) OYO Rooms and Hospitality UK Ltd. (OYO UK) and OYO Mountainia UK Limited (OYO Mountainia) (collectively, OYO) for S3G’s patent portfolio.
The license agreement includes patent licenses to S3G’s patent portfolio in major markets around the world where OYO operates, including the United States, India, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines. The license agreement covers OYO’s software systems, including its widely-used mobile software applications that are used by consumers worldwide to search for and book hotel reservations.
The S3G patents licensed by OYO include Indian Patent No. 328489; Brazilian Patent No. 1120120015109; Mexican Patent No. 317989; Indonesian Patent No. W00201200112; Philippines Patent No. 1-2012-500065; and U.S. Patent Nos. 9,304,758; 9,081,897; 9,940,124; 8,572,571; 10,387,140; 10,261,774, 10,831,468 and 11,210,082. The patents are directed to efficient network communications, including over low bandwidth wireless networks, between various hardware and software systems, including mobile apps. The technology addressed a long felt need by users and the technology industry as a whole to enable higher performance and higher speed communications even over slow wireless networks. Some of the patents also cover location-based systems, data analytics and data visualizations, cloud computing and virtualized processor systems.
OYO and its Affiliates agreed that each of the Licensed Patents are presumed valid and that challenging the validity of any of the Licensed Patents would be difficult, and that OYO will not challenge the validity of any of the Licensed Patents. OYO and its Affiliates also agreed to settle the Lawsuit and license the Licensed Patents in part because of the high burden of proving invalidity of any of the Licensed Patents.
This license agreement resolves the legal dispute between S3G and OYO in the United States and confirms the significant value of S3G’s worldwide patent portfolio. The details of the agreement are confidential and will not be disclosed.
S3G has licensed its patent portfolio to other global brands including the world’s largest real estate brokerages and some of the most popular fast-food companies, restaurants and stores.
