RWE again listed on Dow Jones Sustainability Index
For the thirteenth time in succession, the RWE Group has qualified for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
- (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2011 - For the period 2011/12, the Group was selected for inclusion in the “Utilities” category of both the worldwide “DJSI world” index and the European “DJSI Stoxx” index. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are compiled and published by Sustainability Asset Management Indexes in collaboration with Dow Jones Indexes. They are recognised worldwide as an important index group for sustainable corporate management and award the best in class in each category.
Peter Terium, Deputy Chairman of the RWE Executive Board and in charge of corporate responsibility in the Group: “It is one of our corporate strategic objectives to become more sustainable. To achieve this we are expanding renewables, driving the development of innovative and intelligent solutions and products as well as offering an attractive and safe working environment for our employees. We also focus on occupational health and safety and environmental protection at our suppliers’ companies.”
RWE is one of the few German companies to have been listed every year without exception since the launch of the Sustainability Index in 1999. “The fact that we have been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index rewards our high standards, especially in risk management and occupational health and safety. We are moving full steam ahead on climate protection and power plant efficiency. The good grade we received for our climate protection strategy proves that we are on the right path here,” said Terium.
