RWE again listed on Dow Jones Sustainability Index
For the twelfth time in succession, RWE AG has qualified for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
- (1888PressRelease) September 10, 2010 - The Group was selected for inclusion in both the worldwide “DJSI World” index as a utility and the European “DJSI Stoxx” index for the 2010/11 period. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are compiled and published in collaboration with Sustainability Asset Management Indexes, Dow Jones Indexes and Stoxx Limited.
“RWE has set itself the goal of continually reducing carbon emissions.” said Alwin Fitting, member of the RWE Group’s Executive Board in charge of corporate responsibility. “We take our responsibility very seriously, so we are delighted that our efforts are being recognised by inclusion in the Dow Jones Index.” RWE is one of the few German companies to have been listed every year without exception since the launch of the Sustainability Index in 1999. “The fact that we have been included in the Index now for twelve years in a row is a great honour and an incentive for RWE to continue showing the same energy to lead”, added Fitting.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are compiled and published by Sustainability Asset Management Indexes (SAM) GmbH, Zurich in collaboration with Dow Jones Indexes. The DJSI indexes are considered the world’s key indicators of sustainable corporate governance with the highest level of penetration. Funds licensed according to DJSI criteria alone total almost USD6 billion. The DJSI indexes are considered the world’s key indicators of sustainable corporate governance.
The Utilities category is a Who’s Who of the world’s largest publicly listed electricity, gas and water suppliers, as these indexes single out the best-in-class of each sector. Only nineteen utilities worldwide made it onto the DJSI World index. The rankings are based on economic, environmental and social criteria such as climate protection measures, corporate governance and risk management.
