  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 12, 2011 - Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning, author, and business magnate, has announced his participation in the Entrepreneurial Sounding Board at Columbia University. Sarder will be mentoring MBA students and providing them a forum to discuss their business ideas.

The Entrepreneurial Sounding Board allows students and alumni to meet individually with faculty members and practitioners affiliated with the Lang Center, where they are given the opportunity to discuss their business ideas and opportunities with successful entrepreneurs. During the 30-minute sessions, students and alumni receive preliminary feedback, next-step action items and often links to additional support from mentors. The confidential sessions are available to students and alumni at any stage of development in their business ventures.

Sarder said the program is a great way to help others avoid mistakes in their business ventures and to learn about business, while he himself continues to learn.

"You learn through listening as well as through teaching and coaching. I am honored to have the opportunity to help students learn the path to growing a successful business, but I look forward to learning from the process as well," Sarder said.

Sarder has certainly learned from his experience. He said that while the university is producing a wealth of bright young MBA students, many of them are sitting on great ideas that need to be refined and nurtured before they hit the market to raise capital. Sarder's goal was to challenge their ideas and business models and encourage them to expand their thinking. By forcing them to examine questions like the purpose of their businesses; the size of the market core customer and plans for raising capital, Sarder hopes to get these future business leaders in the right mindset to take advantage of their mentoring experience.

Patrick Karlin said the coaching was excellent and was very helpful in guiding his actions as an entrepreneur and in understanding the perspective of an investor as well.

"It gave me a fresh perspective on identifying where I stand, what are the next steps and what are my main challenges." Karlin said.

He is currently in the process of putting those steps in action to forward his next project. It's because of students like Karlin, that Sarder truly believes in the program. He himself was blessed with many mentors when he was starting his business ventures, and he knows the importance of having a knowledgeable and experienced mentor.

Sarder is the author of two learning books, including his most recent, Learning: Steps to Becoming a Passionate Lifelong Learner, and has led his company, NetCom Learning, to become a multimillion-dollar company. Sarder's company was awarded with a spot on the Inc. 500's "Inc. 5000" list of fastest growing companies, and he has helped his company reach record-breaking earnings in July and August. He said he is participating in this mentoring program because he strongly believes in giving back to the community after having experienced such a great level of success himself.
