Running Club App Introduces Live, Interactive Runs To Connect Runners Nationwide
The Running Club app takes an innovative, user-friendly approach to socializing personal fitness, preparing for races, and connecting friends and family separated by long distances for the sake of fitness.
- Sarasota-Bradenton, FL (1888PressRelease) July 01, 2013 - Runners gain newfound inspiration and rekindle national connections thanks to the Running Club app from Sporteer, available free through the iTunes App Store. Running Club takes an innovative, user-friendly approach to socializing personal fitness, preparing for races, and connecting friends and family separated by long distances for the sake of fitness.
For many runners, training alone does not offer the level of motivation and encouragement needed to exercise effectively and improve performance. The Running Club app addresses this issue by allowing users to schedule and run live races with friends, family or other Running Club members from anywhere in the country - seeing their progress and statistics compared to friends as they run together.
For example, someone in New York can invite a friend from Chicago to a two-mile run at 7:00 PM EST. Just before 7:00, both friends sign in to the live race mode. When the start time hits, they begin running and are able to see each other's progress in real-time. When the run is over, the runners are able to see each other's results. A group chat feature is also available so runners can catch up before and after the run.
For those who do enjoy unaccompanied training, the app's latest version introduced a number of fun solo features, including the "Ghost-Race" option that lets runners challenge their own previous runs, and "Re-Race," which allows users to run against other people's past runs that saved in the app.
"Instead of just tracking individual stats, our app actually lets you run 'with' other people, live through your phone," said Running Club developer Eric Piazza. "You can also chat before and after the run, so the app offers a truly unique social experience. It makes you feel like you are actually running with someone, even if you are not able to meet in person due to distance or schedule."
Users have also found other great ways to use the Running Club app, including charity and fundraiser participation for those who cannot make the event in person, corporate team-building programs allowing coworkers to get in shape together, athletic teams to keep close during the off-season, and personal trainers who organize groups of clients to run together.
