OC Restaurant Kicks Off Season Of Giving With Holiday Ceremony.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2015 - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and Santa Claus will be among the cast of characters welcoming guests to the Anaheim White House's 28th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Dinner on Sunday, November 22. The festivities start at 6 p.m. when guests will be greeted with Champagne and tray-passed hors d'oeuvres as they roam around the restaurant's festively decorated, snow-filled grounds. The tree lighting will be held at 7 p.m. followed by a 4-course sit-down dinner. Cost is $135. Reservations must be made no later than Saturday, November 7 by calling (714) 772-1381.
Guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy that will be donated to Caterina's Club, the internationally recognized nonprofit that feeds and houses local "motel kids," thus named because their poor, working class parents are relegated to cheap, crime-ridden motels. In keeping with tradition, 4 honorees will be recognized by Caterina's Club for their exceptional support: Chadia Almeddin, Kim Paul, Carol Ramsey and Clemmie Fucinari.
Caterina's Club was started in 2005 after a visit by Anaheim White House owner Sir Bruno Serato and his mother, Caterina, to a local Boys & Girls Club. There, she saw a 7-year-old boy eating a bag of potato chips and when she learned that the snack was all he had for dinner, she instructed her son to head back to the restaurant and feed the children pasta. He has fed them each evening since.
When the program was at risk of extinction during the collapse of the economy, Serato mortgaged his home to keep it going. But the issue of hunger in OC -- the backyard of great wealth --still exists in many Southern California cities. In addition to feeding the hungry, Serato helps "motel families" find permanent housing.
The massive undertaking has earned Serato an international reputation for his humanitarian work. In addition to being a CNN Hero and knighted by the Italian government, he has graced the pages of People Magazine several times, appeared on countless national television programs including "CBS Evening News" and has been profiled in newspapers and magazines the world over. He received a humanitarian award on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, was honored by the Good News Foundation (LA female newscasters who offer financial grants to worthy causes) and received numerous proclamations, Man of the Year awards and other forms of recognition -- all of which he has accepted to generate public awareness of hunger in our communities.
