  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) January 26, 2012 - Today the WiMAX Forum announced that effective February 1st, 2012, Mr. Ronald J. Resnick is retiring from his role as the President of the WiMAX Forum. The WiMAX Forum would like to extend its sincerest thanks to Mr. Resnick for his years of service both as President and as Chairperson of the WiMAX Forum Board of Directors.

    "Mr. Resnick has been a valued part of the WiMAX leadership for the past eight years," said Dr. Mohammad Shakouri, Interim Chairperson of the WiMAX Forum. "The WiMAX Forum would like to thank Mr. Resnick for building a strong foundation for this organization, which will continue its work in standardizing and certifying technology to bring broadband to underserved markets across the world. We all wish Mr. Resnick the best of luck in his future endeavors."

    The WiMAX Forum is also pleased to announce that Declan Byrne has been unanimously elected as Acting President of the WiMAX Forum. The WiMAX Forum would like to congratulate Mr. Byrne on his new position, and thank him for taking on this role for the benefit of our industry.

    Declan Byrne joined the WiMAX Forum in 2010 as the Senior Director of Marketing. Byrne brings 12 years of experience in the wireless industry and a strong background in marketing to the WiMAX Forum. Prior to joining the WiMAX Forum, Byrne worked for Airspan as Chief Marketing Officer. At Airspan Byrne was responsible for driving corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, traditional marketing, and government relations. Prior to Airspan, he held senior executive positions at small and large corporations in the wireless industry including a position at AT&T with global responsibility for developing and managing international and domestic alliances. Byrne also served as a US Diplomat abroad for the Foreign Service for more than 10 years. Byrne is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and speaks French, Russian, German and Spanish.
