RocketHub Brings Crowdfunding To Canada
RocketHub Opens Office In Montreal And Empowers Canadian Artists And Entrepreneurs To Raise Funds Through Crowdfunding.
- (1888PressRelease) January 20, 2011 - In only 11 months since its global launch, RocketHub has experienced significant traction and growth in the Canadian marketplace. Musicians, filmmakers, artists, and entrepreneurs from Canada have successfully raised funds and fostered awareness through crowdfunding - powered by the RocketHub platform and supported by the blossoming RocketHub community.
Notable guitarist and musical artist Jacob Moon, raised over $7,500 for his musical DVD project. Moon spoke of his experience on RocketHub: "This is the record company of the future...I haven't had an elegant way until now to show people what I'm doing and provide real-time status updates and graphics, and to build that on my own site would be cost-prohibitive. RocketHub is the only way, as far as I can see, to get this done for almost nothing."
In response to the increased demand in the Canadian marketplace for a local crowdfunding resource, RocketHub has recruited Montreal-based writer, blogger, and filmmaker Justin Phass to be the Director of Development for RocketHub's new Canadian arm. Phass' role is to identify and support individual artists and organizations, and to facilitate funding and awareness for their creative projects.
A recent and noteworthy RocketHub project, the documentary film about the Dawson College Shooting of 2006, by director Adam Reider, was showcased on Reseau de l'information (RDI), a Canadian French-language cable television news channel operated by CBC/Radio-Canada. Reider says of his RocketHub campaign: "It feels great because the support I'm getting even just in terms of getting the word out to people is phenomenal. People are coming out of the wood work and spreading the message over Facebook, Twitter and e-mail."
In addition, RocketHub was recently featured in the Vancouver Sun Newspaper as a top crowdfunding site for creative and entrepreneurial projects.
The RocketHub team aims to grow its presence and level of support for Canadian artists and entrepreneurs. RocketHub's Co-Founder and COO, Vlad Vukicevic says that "before RocketHub, Canada had been neglected by most of the major crowdfunding platforms. By hiring Justin Phass and continuing to expand our outreach in Canada, we hope to intimately support Canada's talented individuals and organizations."
