Rochester Central Lutheran School Students Give Back by "Stuffing the Turkey"

(1888PressRelease) December 18, 2010 - Throughout the last several weeks, Rochester Central Lutheran School students have been working hard to gather food and money for Channel One, Inc. through their "Stuff the Turkey" campaign.

RCLS students in preschool through eighth grade brought in food donations and made monetary weekly chapel donations to help those in need in our community.

Patricia Bryngelson, first grade teacher, Rochester Central Lutheran School, said, "At RCLS, we teach our students the importance of service and sharing what God has blessed us with by giving to Channel One. Our students and their families all get involved, and we have a great time helping those in need in our communities."

As a result of the food drive, 1,835 pounds of food was donated to Channel One for distribution to low-income Olmsted County residents through the food shelf program. This amount of food will provide over 1,400 meals to people in need! In addition to the food donations, RCLS students also donated $190.05 of weekly chapel offerings to Channel One for purchase of perishable food items for the food shelf.

To celebrate the amount of food items their classroom had donated, the RCLS third graders were given an ice cream party.
