Roche Bobois Paris continues charitable efforts during 40th anniversary celebration at Coral Gables, Florida showroom
After donating furnishings for the entire Lotus House shelter, Roche Bobois continued the charitable affiliation with another fundraising effort during a gala celebration of the company's 40th anniversary in the U.S.
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) December 03, 2014 - This year marks Roche Bobois' 40th year in the United States. In honor of the milestone, the Paris-based furniture icon hosted over 350 VIP guests at a gala celebration in their Coral Gables showroom. A highlight of the November 25th event, which was co-hosted by Ocean Drive Magazine, was the South Florida unveiling of "The Traveler Chair" by designer Steven Burks, only the second American to design for the company since their founding in 1961. The event also served as a backdrop for Roche Bobois' continuing efforts on behalf of Miami's Lotus House Shelter for abused and homeless women and children. Julien Bigan, Roche Bobois' U.S. Communications Director, explained that the project began when Roche Bobois, in conjunction with pro-tennis icon Venus Williams' V*Starr Interiors, did an "Extreme Furniture Makeover" at the shelter with new furniture, lighting, area rugs, wall art and accessories for resident apartments and common areas. In addition, Roche Bobois donated a set of their stunning Ava Chairs for a silent auction during the event to further benefit Lotus House.
Among those making their way along the red carpet were some of the top donors and supporters of Lotus House/Sundari Foundation, including Martin Margulies, foundation board member and owner of the famed Warehouse Gallery in Miami, housing one of the largest contemporary art collections of its kind. Margulies provided a painted-bronze sculpture by Manuel Neri and a mixed-medium piece of art by John Torreano, which were on display at the event, where guests enjoyed cocktails and signature dishes from Swine Southern Table & Bar, Seasons 52 and R House restaurants, Fleur De Lis Vodka and Cherry Tart Pinot Noir. In keeping with the opening of Roche Bobois' first American showroom in 1974 along New York's Madison Avenue, the glittering evening was underscored by the sights and sounds of a "1970s disco," replete with DJ, mirror balls 70s-clad go-go girls and disco dancers on roller skates. The evening was enhanced by live, piano stylings on a Sterling Silver Edition baby grand provided by Steinway & Sons.
Bigan noted, "Throughout the year, we are celebrating our U.S. debut at our showrooms across the country. But this particular event is especially meaningful because it also celebrates our continued affiliation with Venus Williams' V*Starr Interiors and Lotus House Shelter."
Roche Bobois Paris, founded in 1961, has over 250 showrooms in 45 countries, 24 of which are in major cities in the United States. Roche Bobois will be adding to their South Florida showrooms in Coral Gables and North Palm Beach with a new location in Aventura scheduled to open this winter.
