Roche Bobois Co-Hosts Designer Events With Florida Design Magazine
Designers at each event toured the showrooms, observed technical demonstrations, heard tips on how to get published in Florida Design, and met Parisian designer Sacha Lakic, whose furniture designs are exclusive to Roche Bobois.
- West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2013 - International home furnishings company Roche Bobois co-hosted an event for designers with Florida Design in its Coral Gables and North Palm Beach showrooms respectively in October.
Well attended by design industry professionals, each gathering provided guests with an opportunity to hear tips about getting published in Florida Design from Annette Galbo, magazine's editorial coordinator. Publisher Jeff Lichtenstein also spoke at the North Palm Beach event.
In Coral Gables, Adam El-Hout, Roche Bobois' sales and business development manager for North America, demonstrated the versatility of the Mah Jong modular sofa system, as well as the beauty and durability of Daquacryl, a high-gloss, non-porous and thermoformable finish made from an acrylic resin. Trademarked by Roche Bobois, Daquacryl is unlike normal lacquers in that it will last decades because scratches can be removed with buffing, or buffing and sanding.
Likewise, Julien Bigan, Roche Bobois' general manager, U.S. South East, conducted these technical demonstrations at the North Palm Beach showroom.
Guests also met Parisian designer Sacha Lakic who spoke about his passion for motorcycle, automobile, fashion, architectural and furniture design. Lakic engaged designers with his informative and congenial talk, while showing them his Speed Up Water Drop sideboard and Scenario modular leather sofa. All of his furniture designs are exclusive to Roche Bobois.
"People are initially attracted by the proportions of my sofas, then by the details and, lastly, by the comfort they feel when sitting in them. I also like designing furniture that functions in more than one way. My sideboards are sculptural and provide a lot of storage. Furthermore, it's important for me to put movement and emotion into the products I design," Lakic explained.
Bigan and his Florida staff gave designers a tour the showrooms and answered questions. Many designers had already been there and were glad to return for the events.
Light breakfast fare was served and designers entered a drawing for a chance to win a pair of sleek Roche Bobois Ava chairs designed by Song Wen Zhong. Herbert Brito, ASID, whose design firm is located in Coral Gables, was the winner at the first event. Donald Joseph, ASID, whose company is located in West Palm Beach, won the drawing at the North Palm Beach event.
Roche Bobois' Coral Gables showroom is located at 450 Biltmore Way, (305) 444-1168. The North Palm Beach showroom is at 136 U.S. Highway One in North Palm Beach, (561) 835-4982. For further information, visit www.roche-bobois.com.
