Robert Geneid officially launches Mulu book for online store
Robert Geneid officially launch the sale of the "Vision of Mulu: 60 million years in the making" online.
- (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2012 - Robert Geneid, the Managing Director of Borsarmulu Resort, has officially commenced the sale of their coffee table book, entitled Visions of Mulu: 60 Millions Years In The Making, on their website. The book is a wonderful collection of enlightening editorials on the creation of this natural marvel, including scientific explanations of the formation of its karst features, accounts and photographs of the various expeditions to Mulu and magnificent colour photography on the flora and fauna of the area.
Photographer such as Robbie Shone, the famous British cave and travel photographer, Ch'ien Lee, the nature photographer and botanist, W.K. Fletcher and Donna Bayliss, both retired Canadian geologists and many more. The photographers, facing difficult physical and photographic conditions managed to take some of the most breathtaking photos of Gunung Mulu National Park.
In his statement, Robert Geneid foresees that availability of the book online will be a boon to Mulu by extending its reach to a wider audience. He also said, "Mulu is a place where you can marvel at the wonders of nature. Mulu's beauty deserves to be shared with all of the people of the World".
Gunung Mulu National Park is currently being managed by Borsarmulu Park Management in conjuction with the Sarawak Forestry Corporation. In November 2000, during the 24th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, the park was declared as a natural World Heritage Site. This was after it had undergone an assessment where it had to meet at least one of four criteria. Mulu managed to satisfy all four criteria joining a select group of sites to have that distinction.
In their assessment report, UNESCO mentions that Gunung Mulu National Park is "important both for its high biodiversity and for its karst features". There are also at least 295km of caves including some of the largest in the world, one of which is the Sarawak Chamber, a 600m x 415m x 80m cavern is the largest known cave chamber in the world.
