Robert B. Willumstad School of Business Announces its Upcoming Executive-in-Residence Lectures
Ambassador Frank Wisner from Patton Boggs, LLP and Karen Parrish, vice president of industry solutions for the public sector for IBM will visit Adelphi University for Robert B. Willumstad School of Business Executive-in-Residence lectures.

Willumstad School of Business is hosting two lectures as part of its Executive-in-Residence Program that brings executives to campus to talk about the challenges, awards, and current issues facing their organizations. Ambassador Frank Wisner from Patton Boggs, LLP will deliver a lecture on Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, Room 313. Karen Parrish, vice president of industry solutions for the public sector for IBM will speak on Wednesday, April 3, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Center for Recreation and Sports, Campbell Lounge. Both events are located at 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.
Ambassador Frank G. Wisner, Patton Boggs, LLP, provides clients with strategic global advice concerning business, politics, and international law from the firm's Washington and New York offices. Ambassador Wisner's diplomatic career spans four decades and eight American presidents. He served as ambassador to Zambia, Egypt, the Philippines, and India during his extensive career in the State Department. In addition to his role as ambassador to four countries, he has served as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and as Under Secretary of State for International Security Affairs.
Ambassador Wisner was also senior Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs from 1982 to 1986. As director of the Office of Southern African Affairs, Ambassador Wisner worked closely with Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to launch negotiations with Zimbabwe and Namibia. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice appointed Ambassador Wisner as the nation's special representative to the Kosovo Status Talks in 2005 where he played a crucial role in negotiating Kosovo's independence.
Before joining Patton Boggs, Ambassador Wisner served as vice chairman of external affairs for American International Group. He serves on the board of directors of the US-India Business Council, EOG Resources, and Ethan Allen, among others.
Karen Parrish is the vice president of industry solutions for the public sector which includes healthcare, life sciences, education, government, defense and smarter cities. She has held this IBM software group role since January 2011. She is responsible for the cross brand and cross divisional strategy and execution for industry specific solutions across these industries worldwide. Ms. Parrish joined IBM in 1986 and spent her first ten years in IBM's sales force as a client executive in the distribution sector servicing customers such as Kmart and Melville. She then worked in different capacities with IBM-manager of solutions development in IBM's Sales and Distribution division; executive assistant to the general manager of pervasive computing; and vice president of industry solutions and frameworks in software group.
Ms. Parrish also is the president of the board of directors for the Pleasantville Academy of Music Arts, leads a senior Girl Scout troop and on the board of directors of SmartRoom. She was recently named Executive-in-Residence for Fordham University, where she focuses on smarter heathcare analytics and smarter cities.
