RisingStar31 Productions Launches Contests and Auditions for Film: A Detour to Mexico
) RisingStar31 Productions launches two production projects and three exciting talent searches. The company is hosting a poetry contest with Geoffrey Owens, from The Cosby Show, and two online video contests to begin auditions for their first film project, A Detour to Mexico.
- (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2012 - Geoffrey Owens, from The Cosby Show, and RisingStar31 Productions teamed up to launch their first Poetry In Motion Contest, an initiative to celebrate Geoffrey's new selection of on-line greeting cards and recognize the literary works of talented writers. Geoffrey, who's also a Shakespearean actor and poet, will be the judge who selects the winning finalist.
The Prize for the winning poem is $1,000. The $25 Entry Fee covers the application process. The deadline for entering the contest is extended to February 29, 2012.
Risingstar31 also celebrates the long-anticipated release of the screenplay, A Detour to Mexico, a story co-authored by the late Mrs. Sammy Davis, Jr. The company has launched two special video contests to begin the online auditions for the musical. In a unique twist, the 'audience participation' starts early. The company is inviting the public to be involved in judging the contestants and selecting the 'stars' of the film.
Pamela Sherrod, co-author of the screenplay, says "It's very exciting because there's so much talent out there, artists who're just waiting to be discovered. And there are unforgettable characters in the story . . . just waiting to come to life."
Regarding the music contest, she says: "We believe that something amazing could happen, if we hear the right voice, especially for one of the last scenes . . . it could be magic! We're anxious to hear what artists will create for a number of scenes. There could be several show-stoppers.
'A Detour to Mexico' Video Competition shines the spotlight on the talented acting and production skills used to produce a 3-minute scene from the story. One prize of $500 is awarded to the winner (s) of this competition, as well as the showcasing of their video on the RisingStar31 website, media coverage, and an opportunity to perform in the film, A Detour to Mexico. The $10 Entry Fee covers the application process. The deadline for entering the contest is November 30, 2012.
'A Detour to Mexico' Musicians' Contest is based on a music-related scene from the screenplay and showcases the vocalist, band and/or singing/dance group that wins the best videotaped performance of an original musical arrangement. One prize of $500 is awarded to the winner (s) of this competition, as well as the featuring of their performance on the RisingStar31 website, media coverage, and the opportunity to perform in the film, A Detour to Mexico. All musical entries must be original compositions, performed by the contestants and submitted on a video of up to two minutes. The $10 Entry Fee covers the application process. The deadline for entering the contest is November 30, 2012.
