The 7th Edition of the National Awards for the Excellence in Printing in India are to be supported by Ricoh India Ltd.
- (1888PressRelease) April 20, 2012 - RICOH will be the main sponsor for this year National Awards for Excellence in Printing. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Avijit Mukherjee, CEO of Ricoh India Limited said, we always believe in quality and it will be our endeavor to recognize the quality in printing. In other words it will be a tribute to the printers producing quality and at the same time to encourage the others to follow. It is a humble attempt of AIFMP to improve the quality of printing in India so that the printers of this country can produce world class prints. Considering it as a moral responsibility, Ricoh is proud to associate with AIFMP for these awards, he said.
Earlier Mr. Ranjan Kuthari, President AIFMP said that National Awards for the Excellence in Printing (NAEP) is the prime event for the 2,50,000 printers of India and these are the only awards supported by the Government of India. As a moral responsibility to felicitate the deserving, NAEP is being organized by the AIFMP every year. Honouring such printers ensures that others in the field get inspired and strove hard to reach their goals. AIFMP organizes such award giving functions to perpetuate the spirit of doing something unique for the overall development of the quality of printing in India. I am thankful to RICOH for joining hands in this noble cause, he said.
Giving concept of the awards, Mr. Kamal Chopra, Organizing Secretary of the awards, said printing though a centuries old technique is considered a mechanical, almost robotic, process of reproducing ideas on paper. It is however, he said, much more than merely pressing buttons on sophisticated printing machines. It is an art, comparable to the weaving of rich brocades, the painting of exquisite canvasses, the sculpting of rock etc. We printers are, therefore, nothing less than artists it is therefore we have given the concept of KARIGARI to this year awards. Great Karigari needs to be appreciated, because, workmanship converts a great skill and craft to excellence. Further he said that for better participation and to open the event even for the most humble printers, we have introduced some new groups and categories this time.
The small printers with 1 to 3 units have been placed under separate group to facilitate fair competition. Similarly Web Offset is the new group introduced this time. For the ease of operation we have decided to call the entries only at one collection centre at New Delhi. Judging, he said will be done in camera and results will only be announced at the time of award ceremony at New Delhi. Closing date to receive the entries is 30th of June and entries can be submitted by any printing company/prepress house/post press house located within India, Mr. Chopra added.
