RICG Acquires Integrated Agency Hero Media
RICG today announced that it has acquired Hero Media, an award-winning integrated marketing agency servicing clients and brands in technology, consumer goods, entertainment, retail and business services. Its roster of clients include Samsung, Sleep Innovations, CA Technologies, Sharp, Hunter Douglas and Total Defense. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 07, 2013 - The Hero Media acquisition will make RICG one of the nation's largest providers of end-to-end creative and marketing deployment services. Both RICG and Hero Media are proven providers with exceptional reputations for providing outstanding client service. Hero Media will merge its operations into RICG's headquarters, located near the tip of the High Line at the Hudson Rail Yards in New York City. RICG Founder and President ChristopherDeSantiswill continue to lead the combined company as its Chief Executive Officer.
"We have been eager to add digital design, video and social media capabilities in order to enrich our creative service offerings. Hero Media is the ideal partner for that expansion," said DeSantis. "Our firms share both a common culture around client focus and a common understanding that ultimately, our clients choose us so they can relax, knowing that we can handle all the complexity of mission critical programs that arise from an increasingly automated marketing world. So the combined business will enhance our client experience across the board. We are thrilled because we know our clients will be thrilled. They have been struggling to manage too many outsourced marketing specialists."
"We are excited to become a part of RICG at this important time in the company's growth trajectory," said John Spitaletta, CEO of Hero Media, who will join RICG as a member of its Advisory Board. "RICG is a clear market leader with an excellent platform to lead consolidation in the industry. We look forward to becoming a part of the RICG team and bringing even more value to our client base with RICG's creative and deployment capabilities."
In an ever-shifting landscape of marketing service providers, companies must reconcile conflicting forces: the need to optimize the performance of their marketing spend, while at the same time contending with a dizzying array of ways to reach customers, and specialist vendors eager to do so. RICG is pursuing a full-service marketing model in order to compete in an increasingly divided market; on one hand, against large agencies who can ideate brilliantly, but can't execute affordably, and on the other, against smaller tactical firms who execute narrow-focus marketing programs at low-cost, regardless of clients' over-arching strategic goals. RICG has experienced success with its "best-of-both" strategy of offering strategic creative and production deployment capabilities to clients with high-growth goals.
"The recent mega merger of agency holding entities suggests that innovation and growth is not happening among the big players. They're consolidating, but not investing in the latest techniques that make marketing truly rewarding to clients. And small tactical firms experience margin squeeze. The mid-size play is right for RICG. And combining strategy and execution across many disciplines of marketing into a single mid-size firm makes sense to our customer base," added Brett Iken, Chief Operating Officer of RICG. "This transaction demonstrates our commitment to offering the best techniques and talent in a right-sized firm. Our clients love that their business is not lost in a behemoth."
