Ricardo Henriques to Speak at Cell Based Assay Conf., October 7-8, 2014, Dublin
Ricardo Henriques, University College London, to Speak on Super-Resolution Microscopy at Cell Based Assay & Screening Technologies Conference, October 7-8, 2014 in Dublin, Ireland.
- (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2014 - Dr. Henriques, who currently serves as a senior lecturer of biophysics at University College London's Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology, will give an overview of developed analytical tools for super-resolution data analysis. To date, super-resolution microscopy techniques hold the record in resolving power for light microscopy.
These techniques have both the capacity to differentiate and localize individual molecules at scales experimentally demonstrated of few nanometers (1-30 nm). In this family of methods, photo-activated localization microscopy (PALM) and stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM), as well as their variants, embrace the potential to fully resolve complete cellular structures at the nanoscale, accurately localizing thousands to millions of individual fluorophores within a labeled cell.
Dr. Henriques will also share how his group has developed super-resolution automation procedures for image-based super-resolution screening to identify factors influencing the formation of the T cell immunological synapse and its modulation by the HIV-1 virus.
Dr. Henriques will introduce several of the aspects in super-resolution methods his group has developed, ranging from analytical methods, automation for screening, and novel super-resolution probes. He will also demonstrate some of its applications, such as super-resolving host-pathogen in HIV infection.
