Rezidor donates more than 85,000 EUR during Responsible Business Action Month
The Rezidor Hotel Group donates more than 85,000 EUR to charity organizations.
- (1888PressRelease) October 04, 2011 - This is the result of the company’s 8th “Responsible Business Action Month”: Each year in September, Rezidor hotels across Europe, Middle East and Africa organize social and environmental activities and raise funds to support Rezidor’s corporate charity organization “World Childhood Foundation” as well as further national and regional charity projects. In 2011, Rezidor also helped the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and collected monetary donations for refugees from Libya who found shelter in UN-camps in Tunisia and Egypt.
“We want our hotels to be good neighbours and responsible partners in their local community. Over 80% of our properties followed our call for action and created an impressive 460 activities during this year’s Responsible Business Action Month”, said Inge Huijbrechts, Director Responsible Business at Rezidor. Joint projects were especially successful: In the Middle East, Radisson Blu- and Park Inn by Radisson hotels started the initiative “The Box Appeal” – inviting employees, guests and neighbours to fill a box with essential goods such as soap, toothbrush and -paste and shampoo for people in need. In Germany, 45 Rezidor hotels launched an innovative SMS fundraising campaign; in the United Kingdom, 31 hotels kicked off a 6 months cycling campaign. In Stockholm, 6 hotels organized a Responsible Business Day including a flea market; and in Paris, female staff members of 7 hotels joined “La Parisienne”, a run through the French capital city in support of breast cancer research.

The ambitious programme dates back to 1989 and features three main pillars: Health & safety for guests and employees, respect for social & ethical issues within the company, and minimizing the company’s environmental footprint. In 2010 and 2011, the group was even named one of the Most Ethical Companies Worldwide (by Ethisphere Institute).
