  • (1888PressRelease) September 16, 2011 - Perth, Australia - Classical dancer, Michelle Locke, founded Wu Tao after years of studying and teaching natural health methods. The dance therapy features evocative music by her partner and well-known Australian musician, Steve Richter. With its distinctively composed music related to the natural elements to help promote relaxation, Wu Tao is well established as a health giving exercise program in Australia and New Zealand.

"Wu Tao is designed to balance energy flow while relaxing and toning your mind and body," said Michelle Locke, creator and founder of Wu Tao.

Wu Tao consists of a series of dances especially designed to stimulate and balance energy flow or Life force, also known as Chi. Wu Tao is based on the same principles as Chinese medicine and is a similar practice to Tai Chi, Chi Gung, and Yoga. It differs however, in its innovative use of dance and music to achieve the same results of increased energy, vitality, stress relief, and improved health.

Wu Tao is suitable for all ages and abilities and is even being used in aged-care facilities in Australia to enhance health and well-being. While popular for its energising physical workout, Wu Tao is best known for its ability to restore emotional balance and inner peace.

"The flowing dance moves work to easily and gently release old emotions trapped in the body. The end result is a toned and energised physique with improved flexibility and strength, and increased feelings of joy and peace," Locke explained.

In addition, Locke and Richter's personal relationship has naturally led to the creation of Wu Tao for couples, an energising sequence of the dances enjoyed with a partner. Wu Tao for Couples revitalises relationships by creating an emotional connection while increasing physical strength, flexibility, and energy at the same time.

"If you are ready for a new experience that will bring you home to peace and balance, come along and share in what Wu Tao - The Dancing Way has to offer you," said Locke.

Wu Tao performances and workshops will be available in Los Angeles, Florida, and New York in November.

ABOUT WU TAO THE DANCING WAY
In 2001, Wu Tao was conceived and created by classical ballerina, Michelle Locke. Locke was a former dancer for the prestigious West Australian Ballet Company prior to sustaining a serious back injury that resulted in the end of her ballet career. This was the catalyst that led to the inception of Wu Tao. The nature of the injury led her to explore Chinese Medicine and many other healing therapies to get her life back on track. This journey lasted several years and as she returned to full health, Michelle's daughter Belle was diagnosed with Rett syndrome- a neurological and developmental disorder. To help nurture herself through this difficult time, Michelle started dancing again and to her surprise found Wu Tao waiting in the wings to be discovered. Michelle was astonished how naturally and easily 5 complete dances came to her.

These dances became the core of Wu Tao. She shared these new dances with some of her close friends, who shared it with their friends and soon, Wu Tao spread through Australia and New Zealand. Michelle (when not looking after Belle) devoted her time to sharing Wu Tao with people as a vehicle to promote transformation, health and stress management through dance. It is fast becoming an inspiring leader in the area of natural health and well-being, with available classes in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan.
