Researchwritingcenter.Com - Photo Contest Has Some Unexpected Twists
The contest from the ResearchWritingCenter.com keeps surprising the staffers.
- (1888PressRelease) March 31, 2011 - The ResearchWritingCEnter.com recently launched a new contest aimed at revealing how the freelancers working for the project organize their workspace. All the participants have to do is submit a photo of their working place according to the requirements, which are pretty straightforward and can be fulfilled by practically anyone. But some of the participants didn't follow the instructions, and their submissions a lot of the times are surprising.
"We already have dozens of submissions, which were disqualified. Some people submit photos of themselves, some people take pictures of their dorm rooms. There was a submission which had a picture of women protesting against discrimination, but the problem with the picture was that the women had no closing up their waste - an unrelated photo of naked women. Some of our staffers even found it to be offensive. We don't know what might be the problem - the rules are pretty easy: take a picture of your working space, include your computer monitor with the home page of ResearchWritingCenter.com opened in a browser and get a chance to win the contest prize of $500. We think that a lot of it has to do with the prize - people see that it's pretty substantial and they don't even pay attention to the instructions, thinking that they aren't important" - explains Jennifer Burns, one of the head managers at the ResearchWritingCenter.com.
There is no doubt that the contest is pretty popular, as people inquire about it and leave comments and reflections about it. But the problem might be that online community is used to sweepstakes and other promotions, that don't require that much input from the participants. The contests from the ResearchWritingCenter.com actually have deeper purposes than simple accumulation of the fan base. The project wants to make the community more personal and bonded and these revealing and meaningful contests play a huge role in this process.
If you want to submit your picture for the contest, you don't have to be registered for the ResearchWritingCenter.com - anyone can join the promotion. You are free to submit your photos within the next couple of weeks, the deadline for the submissions is in the end of April. Then the photos will be voted on by the community.
