RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer Now Available in Windows Azure Marketplace
Free RES Software Service on Windows Azure Marketplace Provides IT Administrators Insight about User Context and Desktop Usage.
- (1888PressRelease) July 03, 2012 - Philadelphia, - RES Software, the recognized leader in dynamic desktop solutions, today announced the publication of RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer in the Windows Azure Marketplace. RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer is a free, online service on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Azure that allows IT architects and desktop administrators to quickly gain visibility into their desktop infrastructures through a rich analysis of user context and desktop usage. This availability will allow IT administrators to register for this RES Software service directly from the Windows Azure site.
The Windows Azure Marketplace serves as an online market for buying and selling finished SaaS applications and premium datasets. It helps connect companies seeking innovative cloud-based solutions with partners who have developed solutions that are ready to use. In order to be accepted onto the marketplace, Microsoft analyzes and tests all offerings to ensure that they comply with Windows Azure's security, billing, auditing, and authentication requirements. Administrators have the ability to discover, try and buy applications built on Windows Azure and purchase them via a single trusted source.
"The Windows Azure marketplace is a great online resource for customers and partners to buy and sell finished Software as a Service (SaaS)." Said Max Uritsky, Group Program Manager Windows Azure Marketplace, Microsoft Corp. "We are excited to have RES Software offer RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer on the Windows Azure Marketplace and help connect customers seeking innovative cloud based solutions with this ready to use solution."
RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer is a service based on Windows Azure that provides IT a better understanding of what exists in their environment and what is really used, including applications, printers, data sources, hardware and more. This analysis goes above and beyond traditional static inventory services. The lightweight solution requires no agent or backend configuration and is easy to deploy. RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer reports are analyzed through scalable Windows Azure services, and equip organizations with the essential information to make critical decisions about their desktop modernization initiatives, including application virtualization (App-V), Windows 7 migrations, and desktop virtualization.
"Microsoft's inclusion of RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer in the Windows Azure Marketplace serves as an outstanding proof-point for the product's critical capabilities for IT administrators," said Gene Bonacci, RES Software VP channels and Strategic Alliances. "As organizations prepare to embrace and manage the hybrid workspace, RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer provides key materials to streamline the planning and deployment of IT projects that might otherwise disrupt operations regardless of user environment management and personalization platforms."
With the in-depth information provided by RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer, IT departments will be better equipped to make decisions on how to introduce new hardware, plan for virtualization adoption and the deployment of operating systems and applications with minimal end user disruption. They can also quickly evaluate methods of improving IT efficiency, such as determining if they are over spending on unused licenses or seeing how much and what types of data users are storing on Dropbox.
RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer can be found in the Applications portion of the Windows Azure Marketplace, and it fully integrates with RES Workspace Manager, so organizations looking to move forward with desktop transformation projects can stream the data captured by the analysis into Workspace Manager.
See RES Baseline Desktop Analyzer in action at Microsoft TechEd Europe this week at the RES Software booth, S10.
