Renowned Gerontologist Dr. Ron Toseland Educates Professionals about Telephone-based Group Therapy

Many mental health professionals are considering expanding the use of technology, such as telephones and televideo, to reach clients who may live in rural areas, lack transportation, or be home-bound due to medical conditions. However, few professionals have researched and developed telephone treatment protocols. Professor Ronald Toseland of the University at Albany's School of Social Work has worked extensively to develop telephone-based treatment groups. He is internationally recognized for his work in improving the quality of life of elderly individuals as the director of the school's Institute of Gerontology.
