  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) June 26, 2013 - Remington College is now enrolling students for its new Occupational Therapy Assistant program. (1)

The Remington College Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate's Degree Program is a hybrid program, located in Heathrow, Fla. It utilizes a combination of online classes and in-person labs(2), as well as fieldwork rotations that provide real-world experience. Fieldwork sites are available at select locations throughout the Southeast and are scheduled according to the availability of qualified supervisors at the fieldwork sites. Please note that students may not schedule their own fieldwork experiences.

The program is designed to be completed in as few as 24 months - however, program completion results may vary, based on each individual's performance and circumstances.

This program prepares students for entry-level positions in the field of occupational therapy - though employment is not guaranteed for students or graduates.

Occupational therapy assistants work under the direction of occupational therapists, helping people regain or improve the skills needed for daily living and to optimize independence. Students in the Remington College Occupational Therapy Assistant Program will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of topics as part of the curriculum, including pediatrics, orthopediatrics, neurorehabilitation, and mental health.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for occupational therapy assistants and aides is expected to rise by 41% from 2010 - 2020; which is much faster than the average for all occupations.

"This program provides the best of both worlds for students interested in pursuing a career in occupational therapy," said Kurt Hubbard, National Dean of Occupational and Physical Therapy Studies, Health Sciences. "Students get the flexibility and convenience of online classes, combined with an in person lab experience that provides students with hands-on instruction from teachers who bring real-world experience into the classroom."
