Religion Communicators Council Continues Outreach to Faith Communities
The Nashville Chapter of the Religion Communicators Council meets monthly to learn and grow from one another. For several years, it has been looking to include even more people of faith.
- (1888PressRelease) April 29, 2013 - For its May 2013 meeting, the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) in Nashville will visit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center in Franklin, TN.
"RCC's mission is to provide a place where those called to communicate on behalf of their religion can learn and grow," says Rev. Brian Fesler, President of the Nashville chapter, "we want to reach out to others to provide that opportunity to them as well."
Nashville's RCC has been reaching out to people of different faith communities for years. In 2009, RCC was invited for a tour of the Church of Scientology. Members have since visited the Remnant Fellowship Church, Sikh Temple and Friends Meeting Place.
These meetings were informative and inviting, as guests learned about the history, beliefs and practices of the religions. The Church of Scientology offered a full tour of its Nashville location, with RCC members invited to ask questions and learn. Shortly after this visit, Rev. Fesler who pastors the Church, was elected to serve as Vice President of the Nashville RCC chapter, and is now President.
"RCC is a fantastic group of religion communicators. It truly is an honor to be part of this organization," says Fesler.
RCC members have since been able to enjoy a tour of the Remnant Fellowship Church, a meeting at the Sikh Temple where they were invited to attend a worship service, and a meeting at the Friends House.
On May 15, RCC members will travel to the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to hear about the beliefs and practices of the faith.
Fesler says, "We have met members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and are excited to hear from them."
The Religion Communicators Council (RCC), founded in 1929, is an interfaith association of religion communicators at work in print and electronic communication, marketing and in public relations. Members of the RCC come from many different religions and backgrounds including Baptist, Jewish, Baha'i, Scientology, Muslim and Methodist among others.
