Refrigerated Food Express becomes the first recipient of the American Truck Historical Society 50-year award
The American Truck Historical Society presented Refrigerated Food Express with the first ever 50-year award for being in business for over 50 years. The award was presented on Friday November 7, 2014 at the National Association of Small Trucking Companies conference in Nashville, TN.

The award is the first of its kind and was presented by John O. Vannatta, Chairman of the American Truck Historical Society on Friday, November 7th at this year's National Association of Small Trucking Companies (NASTC) conference in Nashville, TN.
On hand to receive the award was Monique DeVoe, Director of Risk Management and Jim Morse, President and CEO of Refrigerated Food Express, Inc. After receiving this award, Jim Morse stated "It's an honor to be the very first recipient of this prestigious award and it was nice to receive it at the 25th Anniversary of the National Association of Small Trucking Companies Annual Conference in Nashville TN. In this day and age, being able to survive and succeed for over 50 years in the trucking industry is a great achievement. We've been in business for 62 years and that says a lot about all of the wonderful people, past and present, associated with Refrigerated Food Express."
In order to be eligible for the award, companies must remain in continuous operation for more than 50 years. Motor carriers must have at least one truck in operation. Additional consideration is also given to truck manufacturers and mechanics as well as other trucking related vendors such as suppliers, insurance companies, publications and associations. All applicants must obtain letters of recommendation from credible vendor partners such as banks or insurance companies associated with the applicant. The awards committee is comprised of the American Truck Historical Society chairman and a minimum of two members appointed by the American Truck Historical Society president, assuring that all applicants are voted on by their peers in the industry.
Upon submission of the application, Monique DeVoe presented several key facts about Refrigerated Food Express that reflect the company's rich history: In business since 1952 (62 years), a third-generation family-owned business (The Welby's), TCA member for over 58 years, NAIT member for over 21 years, highest tenure owner-operator has 42 years and highest tenure employee has 45 years.
