Reformatory Records Prepares To Launch Multiple Full Length Releases, Has Extended Its Reach To Sin City And Taps Las Vegas Native Paul G. From Shock Rock Band I. D. S. F. A. As New Westcoast And Southwest Regional A&r Representative.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) January 16, 2013 - Over the last several months, Reformatory Records has been focusing on audio production of four full-length albums for its artists, three of which have tentative March release dates.
Mike Repel-owner of Reformatory Records-has been managing multiple releases, many of which he has production credits on as mixing and mastering engineer while balancing responsibilities managing the label and developing upcoming marketing campaigns, including one with Atlanta-based Encore Music Group. Repel has also had recent public appearances as a music marketing panelist at the eighth-annual A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta Ga., and at Oak Park River Forest High School's career day in Oak Park, Ill.
CIRYL DA GREAT - "Adolescence" is the sophomore album from Reformatory Records pilot artist Ciryl Da Great, featuring credits from all over with up-and-coming music producers including NSTRMNTL (Gary, Ind./Okinawa, JP), DJ DAZE PRODUCTIONS (Jersey Shore/NYC), JIXER NIXER (St. Louis, Mo.) and MONUMENTAL PRODUCTIONS (Freeport, Bahamas). This album-and the wide range of musical styles it comes with-lays a foundation that lets Ciryl Da Great show how truly diverse his range is as a rap artist.
HEENA KLAN - "Pack Leaders" is the first full-length album from this Westside Chicago trio and will feature a music video release in advance of the album. This album features many local guest artists and has music production credits going to NSTRMNTL, KSTAR THE KING (Kenosha, Wis.) and K.C.P. PRODUCTIONS (Chicago). This album will also include the rap and R&B underground hit "Chasing Paper," which performed well after its half-page spread in the August 2012 edition of THE SOURCE magazine.
D'NERO - "STORY OF A YOUNG BOSS" is the debut album from New Jersey's hardest-working underground artist D'nero, who has done a majority of the musical compositions on this album and all of the recording and mixing on this album. This album includes the previously-released single "Bottoms Up," which has been showing increased activity on a monthly basis. D'NEROs prior releases and mixtapes have had over 20,000 downloads each, and this artist has just started his first business enterprise, TRUE CLASS PRODUCTIONS.
DJ HOUSE - "THE NEXT THREE" is the second installment of traditional Classic Chicago House music from one of the Southside's own neighborhood DJs, completely written and produced by DJ HOUSE.
SEVENSIXX - Reformatory Records' newest rap act combines musical elements of rap, hip-hop and metal into their music production, resulting in a trend-setting sound. The group has been billed with multiple national acts, touring extensively with two-time Grammy award-winning artist Mil Ticket and the Track Kings, and they have opened up for Ludacris, Nelly, Eve, Chingy, Snoop, T.I., Lil Wayne and Fat Joe. They also just performed on the X-TREME PROMO "Taste of Chicago Showcase" at the 2012 A3C HIP HOP FESTIVAL in Atlanta, Ga. and are currently working on their debut full-length album on Reformatory Records.
All Reformatory Records music is available worldwide and the entire catalog can be accessed at http://www.reformatoryrecords.com/purchase-music
We have also ensured additional access of our artists' music by obtaining placement in AMI/ROWE Internet Jukeboxes in over 125,000 bars, clubs, restaurants and U.S. Military bases across the globe and saw three of our artists place in the AMI Top 200 Songs and Albums Chart in June 2012.
Several contracts are currently being negotiated that will show the true musical diversity of this record label, and further announcements will be made soon regarding our new artists.
Interstate contract negotiation has also led to new friendships and has ultimately resulted in the creation of a position with the label's administration for Sin City native Paul G., the guitarist for the rapidly up and coming band I.D.S.F.A., who took home the Vegas Rocks! Magazine 2011 Best Shock Rock Band in Las Vegas award. I.D.S.F.A. is known for its growing stage show that includes pyrotechnics, an eight-foot long anti-aircraft cannon that shoots merch into the audience and other shenanigans that must be witnessed live to give full credit to the creativity that has gone into this band's live show.
Paul G., who has remained in constant contact with Repel over the last year, has developed a close understanding of what Reformatory Records is looking to do in the areas of growth and development in the immediate future and has been named Reformatory Records West Coast and Southwest Regional A&R Representative effective immediately.
"It's a great feeling to be able to work for Reformatory Records and to have the opportunity to be the A&R rep for an area that has been overlooked by most of the music industry for so long. On a regular basis I see some of the best musicians and songwriters you could find anywhere, but because they're from anywhere but Hollywood or New York they don't have the same opportunities to make their mark doing what they love to do. I fully intend to change that with a label that understands the potential
of these great musicians who are willing to go above and beyond to be successful in the record industry. Its going to be very exciting and rewarding for me to be a part of their success," said Paul G.
An immediate search for working, touring bands has already gone into effect in an effort to bring the music we release directly to the people.
Paul G. has also brought to the table a lifetime of music involvement-he is a guitar instructor and songwriter, live audio and sound engineer, event promoter and has worked with Leon C. of The Platters at Industrial Media helping some big-ticket acts such as Queensryche, Concrete Blonde, Wall Of Voodoo, Cheap Trick, Steppenwolf and The Boogie Man Band refine their stage performances prior to touring. Paul and I.D.S.F.A. (whose drummer was formerly in El Debarge) have a vast network of industry professionals they confer with regularly-including Lita Ford and Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne)-and they have performed with acts such as D.R.I., Mobile Death Camp, The Adicts, Anvil, PottyMouth, Bang Tango, Guttermouth, Spineshank and The Mentors.
Paul has also recently developed a strong working business relationship with 1960s MOTOWN RECORDS legendary songwriter/producer VERNON BULLOCK, whose career highlights include monster hits by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, The Four Tops, Junior Walker & the All-Stars, L.L. Cool J & Santana, William "Wee Gee" Howard, The Staple Singers, Public Announcement, The Chi-Lites, Livin' Proof, The Younghearts (20th Century Records/CHAIN Productions) and Bobby Wilson's hit single "Here Is Where The Love Is."
While at Motown, Bullock was Assistant to the Director of Artist Development, Harvey Fuqua. After leaving Motown, Bullock created and co-founded the hit R&B group, "New Birth" along with Tony Churchill and Fuqua. He served as songwriter, producer, keyboardist and road manager of the group. He has worked with many other legendary artists including Little Richard, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, Johnny Taylor, The DELLS and Aretha Franklin.
After a somewhat lengthy hiatus, Bullock is looking very much to get "hands-on involved" in the music industry again, and as owner of VERBUL Media Group (CHAIN Records/ MAFUNDI Music Publishing), he is looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Paul G's band, I.D.S.F.A., and the development of up-and-coming acts.
Bullock and Paul are also working as a team to develop the solo act Erick Martin specifically for Reformatory Records.
"I look very much forward to working with Paul, I.D.S.F.A. and Reformatory Records. Coming back to the music industry like this after my personal hiatus is heaven-sent," said Bullock. "I'm ecstatic seeing the potential of this operation and being a part of this."
In Reformatory Records' three short years as a record label that is known for branding unproven and unbroken artists, the label shows proof that with hard work and dedication anything is possible. When asked about the accomplishments he has made in this short period of time, Repel had this to say:
"From the outside looking in, it may appear to the independent music community that I have gotten some major things done. However I really don't feel that way because it was through constant planning and the execution of those plans that the label is where it's at today. It's a long unending road of small accomplishments that creates an avenue of success. Up until this point I've been working diligently on this label myself, and I haven't even scratched the surface of what my real goals are for this company yet. It's a blessing to know that now I have people getting involved with the label that have the caliber of professionalism that is needed to take this company to the next level."
Although Reformatory Records currently has a heavy Urban music roster, do not let that fool you. Repel's musical tastes are far-reaching and his musical background is actually quite extreme. He was basically brought up by the Hardcore Music movement and has performed in hardcore and metal bands as a guitar player and bassist. Expect to see many genres of music on this label soon, and Reformatory Records is eager to find the right hard-working bands out there to push out to the world along with its current and growing roster.
Repel will be appearing as a speaker/mentor at the 17th Annual Millennium Music Conference in Camp Hill, Pa. and will be discussing his involvement in the music industry via Reformatory Records and his newest business endeavor, REPEL MUSIC DISTRIBUTION, which like Reformatory Records supports all genres of music.
