Redwood Entertainment, Inc. presents the first of its dynamic theme-night music shows at Drom in NYC.
- (1888PressRelease) May 30, 2011 - New York, NY - Redwood Entertainment, Inc. presents the first of its dynamic theme-night music shows at Drom in NYC with an American Roots Music Review on Thursday, June 23, 2011, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Appearing at the show will be successful Redwood recording artists Back Alley Players, Jambalaya Brass Band, and Larry Baeder & The MuseGurus.
Back Alley Players, recently busy contributing to the soundtrack of the soon to be released World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Studios' film Inside Out, will perform songs from their triumphant debut CD release, Beyond the Blues (which charted high on the Living Blues and Roots Music Report charts). This dynamite New York City band is made up of seasoned musical pros from a variety of musical backgrounds from Jazz and Funk, to Hip-Hop and R&B. But make no mistake; Back Alley Players are playing a blues for the new century that draws on many of the disparate elements of traditional blues which are rarely heard in one setting. Back Alley Players are a soulful combination of the talents of a group of very impressive individuals who perform for Ashford & Simpson at Sugar Bar every Tuesday night in Manhattan. The group consists of L. Umar Conry; Johnny Turco; Al Brisbane; and Stix Bones. www.boneentertainment.com
Jambalaya Brass Band will be performing tunes from its latest successful CD release, It's a Jungle Out There (recently charting impressively on the CMJ, Cash Box and Roots Music Report charts). These musically sophisticated New York purveyors of authentic American 'roots' music play a delightful spicy musical gumbo of New Orleans fare from the likes of Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Rebirth and Dirty Dozen brass bands, straight through to the heights of their own modern sounds which incorporate elements of R&B, Gospel, Funk, Latin and Be-bop. They embody the history of the best American music of the last hundred years while at the same time suggesting a prescient trajectory of America's musical future. Jambalaya Brass Band includes Ric Frank; Walt Szymanski; Curtis Fowlkes; Ron Caswell; Chauncey Yearwood; and Washington Duke. www.jambalayabrassband.com
Larry Baeder & The MuseGurus, the wildly popular Key West based band, is Americana Music at its finest. They combine well crafted, timeless song writing, vocals from the heart and disciplined arrangements, with flashes of virtuosic solos, all amply demonstrated on their forthcoming CD release, Larry Baeder & The MuseGurus. The heart of the band is the writing team of the three principals: the crystal clear voice of Dora Gholson, backed by legendary guitarist/producer Larry Baeder (who has recorded and/or performed with a long list of musical greats including a recent performance at the Apollo with Chuck Jackson, Ashford & Simpson and Smokey Robinson) and famous French Rocker/Bassist Francois Gehin. The songs are in the great tradition of classic American songwriters. Influenced by old school R&B, soul music and Americana rock, the music reflects its own unique, contemporary flavor. Larry Baeder & The MuseGurus, appearing at Drom with drummer Kenny Soule, is a celebratory must-see party in the making. www.musegurus.com
Each of these Americana 'roots' bands individually put on great live shows, and seeing these Redwood artists together in one fast paced performance will make for an exceptionally entertaining, fun night of great music, and simply put, a rollicking good time. Watch for the upcoming Redwood World Music Night at Drom NYC on October 13, 2011, featuring Ruth Aguilar, Derrick Ashong & Soulfege and Meddy Gerville.
