This journey explores five islands (Santa Cruz, Floreana, Isabela, Santa Fe and Isla Tortuga) plus the vibrant ecosystems of the Ecuadorian coast boasting an amazing diversity of endemic plants and birds where one can climb from dry forests at the coast to lush cloud forest hills only a few kilometers away.
On the islands the adventure begins with a trip to "Los Gemelos" (The Twins), two enormous collapsed lava chambers, an inspiring visual reminder of the power of nature. Next is a visit to a 600-acre private reserve where the giant Galapagos tortoises freely roam. Ensuing days find visitors hiking, snorkeling and exploring the pirate lore, volcanoes and sea coves rife with bird, animal and marine life.
Back on the mainland in La Ruta del Sol, 10 minutes away from the village of Montanita, Red Mangrove Samai Lodge is surrounded by sounds of the jungle and cooled by ocean breezes. It is an inn and spa best suited for relaxation and wellness. Tour participants will spend four nights here tapping into the strong energy that stems from the encounter of mountain and sea. Samai Lodge has been set up following a mixture of Feng Shui, Andean, and Amazonian influences.
Here, fortified by natural and healthy gourmet cuisine, guests indulge in ocean activities - snorkeling, fishing, sailing, surfing, and whale watching in season.
